Edge out host’ in penalties on a day St. Vincent's H.S win all
Pune, 30th September: Vidya Valley was the odd team out on the field on a day when St. Vincent's H.S ruled and had all their teams move into the semi-finals of the Loyola Football Cup 2024 powered by Tata Autocomp and organised by ELAN (Ex Loyola Alumni Network) at the Loyola H.S ground, Pashan, here on Monday.
Vidya Valley stood tall when they ousted host's Loyola H.S. 3-1 in penalties after both settled for a 1-1 regulation-time draw in the Under-14 quarterfinals.
In regulation-time, Loyola H.S scored in injury-time through Pranay Sancheti (50+3') to help his team cancel Krishna Chandere (44’) minute strike and push the game into penalties. In the penalties, Vidya Valley gained success through Krishna Chandere, Shaurya Mehra, Rian Kogekar. Loyola H.S could only score one via Pranay Sancheti and end the score 4-2.
Earlier in the day, St. Vincent’s H.S showed their winning appetite. In the Under-12 section they had Rayyan Punjabi (18’) close the game 1-0 against Millennium National School. Loyola H.S had Arav Patil (21’) score to push out Vidya Valley 1-0.
The third U-12 slot in the semi-finals was claimed by Vidya Bhavan who ended the dreams of St Patrick’s School 1-0 after Arhat Doshi (5’) found the net.
Earlier, in the Under-14 section, St Vincent’s H.S had Ashton Kale (31’) turn out the match winner against Millennium National School and win 2-1. Earlier, Ansh Lodha (10’) for St Vincent’s H.S and Archil Patole (9’) for Millenium National School got into the scorers book.
In the lone Under-16 section, St. Vincent’s H.S pushed out Millennium National School 1-0 with Shaunak Dhapte (56’) deciding the game.
In end analysis, out of the six knock out matches, St Vincent’s H.S made it to the U-12, 14, 16 semifinals, Loyola H.S and Vidya Bhavan to the U12 semis and Vidya Valley earned an U-14 semi finals slot.
