Tragic Incident In Hadapsar: Young Couple's Love Affair Ends In Murder And Suicide

Pune: In a tragic incident that has come to light, a young couple who fled their village due to opposition to their relationship were found dead in a hotel in the Hadapsar area of Pune. The couple, identified as Monika Kailas Khandare (24) and Akash Arun Khandare (30), were discovered by hotel staff after an apparent murder-suicide.
The incident took place at the Spotlight Hotel on the Manjri-Mundhwa road. According to police reports, Akash strangled Monika with a bedsheet at midnight on May 13 before hanging himself from the ceiling fan using the same bedsheet. The hotel's staff alerted the authorities after discovering the bodies, prompting Assistant Police Inspector Ashwini Rakh, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pande of Hadapsar Police Station, and Crime Branch Inspector Umesh Gite to visit the scene.
Assistant Police Inspector Umesh Rokde has filed a complaint, and the Hadapsar police have registered a case. Initial investigations revealed that the couple had fled from their native Akola district due to familial opposition to their relationship. Both Monika and Akash were related and had been involved in a love affair that their families did not approve of.
Monika was working, while Akash was engaged in farming. The police have been questioning their family members to gather more information about the couple's background and the circumstances leading to their tragic end. It has been disclosed that Akash had previously attempted suicide due to the stress and opposition related to his relationship with Monika.
The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, aiming to understand the full sequence of events that led to the couple's deaths.
