Pune: A heartbreaking incident has surfaced where four students tragically drowned in a farm pond at Nirgudsar in Ambegaon taluka. This tragedy has shocked the local community. The children, all from farm labourer families, were identified as Shraddha Kalu Navale (13, Class VII), Sayali Kalu Navale (11, Class V), Deepak Dutta Madhe (7, residing in Kanhewadi Rajgurunagar), and Radhika Nitin Kedari (14, residing in Kanhewadi Rajgurunagar).

Further details reveal that Shraddha and Sayali were adopted by Gorakshanath Baban Kavathe, who works as an agricultural labourer in the Nirgudsar area. Both siblings were students at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru School in Nirgudsar. With a holiday in place, the four children decided to visit the farm. Unfortunately, they were unaware of the water's depth and, unable to swim, drowned.

Nearby farm workers were alerted to the situation but arrived too late to save the children. The local citizens retrieved the bodies and rushed them to a hospital in Manchar, where doctors confirmed their deaths.

This tragic event follows a similar incident two days prior, where two children drowned in a farm pond in Shirur taluka, further highlighting the dire need for parental vigilance to prevent such tragedies. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the families of the farm labourers.
