Traffic Policeman Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Speeding Vehicle In Charholi

Pune: In a shocking incident, a traffic policeman was seriously injured when he was struck by a speeding four-wheeler while regulating traffic. The victim, identified as Rahul Mote, aged 30, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Pune. The driver responsible for the incident has been apprehended and identified as Prashant Santosh Kadam, a 20-year-old resident of Niragudi, Haveli.
The incident unfolded on Saturday as Rahul Mote, along with fellow policemen, was performing his duty of regulating traffic on the road from Charholi village to D. Y. Patil College. Amidst their duties, around noon, a speeding four-wheeler driven by Prashant approached from Charholi village, displaying tinted windows, making it difficult for the police to identify the driver.
Efforts were made to stop the vehicle by the police, but the driver, Prashant, chose to ignore the instructions and continued driving. In response, Police Constable Mote stepped forward to intervene, signalling the driver to halt. However, disregarding the warning, the driver accelerated the vehicle, crashing it into Mote with great speed.
The impact of the collision left Constable Mote with severe injuries, striking him on the head, shoulder, and leg. Subsequently, he was rushed to a private hospital in Pune for urgent medical attention. The injuries sustained by Mote are reported to be critical, necessitating immediate and intensive treatment.
Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at the Dighi police station by Police Sub-Inspector Shrikant Poptrao Temgire, aged 39, against the accused. The police have taken swift action in response to the incident, apprehending the driver, Prashant Santosh Kadam, who now faces charges related to reckless driving resulting in serious injury.
