Sudden Rainstorm Hits Pune; Multiple Incidents of Falling Trees and Branches

Pune: On Saturday afternoon, sudden, unseasonal rain hit Pune city and its suburban areas. The eastern part of the city, including Hadapsar, Mahamadwadi, and Wanawadi, experienced heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. This resulted in numerous incidents of trees and branches falling, with around 15 to 20 reported locations. On NIBM Road, a falling branch caused damage to several vehicles.

The weather forecast department has earlier predicted that unseasonal rain will remain in the city until Friday, May 24. For the last four to five days, the city and its surrounding areas have been experiencing intense heat until noon and unseasonal rains after afternoon. Unseasonal rains lashed the Hadapsar area, including the central part of the city, on Friday as well.

Since Saturday morning, the city has been enduring intense heat, causing Punekars to sweat profusely. However, by the afternoon, the weather had taken a favourable turn. Around five o'clock in the evening, heavy, unseasonal rain began. The downpour lasted for about an hour to an hour and a half, affecting areas such as Magarpatta, Koregaon Park, Hadapsar, Wanawadi, Mahmmadwadi, Kondhwa, Katraj, and NIBM Road.

According to the fire brigade, vehicles were extensively damaged when a tree branch fell on NIBM Road. The weather department has predicted that this type of unseasonal rain will remain in the city until Friday, May 24.
