Pune: While the memory of yesterday's tragic incident, where six people went missing after a boat capsized in the Ujani Dam, was still fresh, a somewhat similar mishap occurred yesterday in Shindawane village along the Uruli Kanchan-Jejuri State Highway. Yesterday early morning, around 6 a.m., a speeding car plunged into the water due to the absence of iron railings on the new canal, resulting in the death of one individual.
In this incident, a car driver, Amar Sahebrao Ghadge (28), a resident of Junnar, has died, whereas three individuals, Ganesh Sanjay Thorat (22), Shubham Shankar Ingole (21), and Aditya Mahadev Tavre (20), have suffered major injuries.
As per the primary information, four people were going to Phaltan for the weekly market on Thursday morning. At that time, the car driver lost control of the car, and the car fell into the canal near Shindawane village. Surprisingly, the canal does not have an iron railing on the sides of the canal.
After learning about the incident, villagers immediately rushed to the incident site and attempted to rescue the individuals' lives. However, the car driver, Amar Ghadge, died, whereas the other three individuals received major injuries. Following their rescue, these individuals have been admitted to a nearby government hospital for further treatment.
Uruli Kanchan Police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
