Pune, September 2, 2024: In a startling development in the murder case of former NCP corporator Vanraj Andekar, Pune police have arrested his two sisters and their husbands for allegedly plotting his killing. The accused, identified as Sanjeevani and Kalyani, and their husbands Jayant and Ganesh, were taken into custody following a complaint filed by Vanraj’s father, Bandu Andekar.

The murder of Vanraj Andekar, which occurred on August 25 near Doke Talim in Nana Peth, has taken a shocking turn. According to police information, the accused siblings and their spouses were motivated by a property dispute. They believed that Vanraj, during his tenure as a corporator of Pune Municipal Corporation, had taken anti-encroachment actions against a shop they owned.

The dispute came to a head last morning when a heated argument took place between Vanraj and his sisters. Later that evening, Vanraj was attacked by assailants who fired five to six bullets from a pistol and also stabbed him with machetes in Doke Talim in Nana Peth. Despite being rushed to a private hospital with severe injuries, Andekar succumbed to his wounds and declared dead by doctors while receiving treatment.

Investigations revealed that the assailants included Ganesh Laxman Komkar, the husband of Vanraj’s sister Sanjeevani, as well as Somnath Sayaji Gaikwad and Tushar Kadam. Notably, Ganesh Komkar has a criminal record; he was previously involved in an acid attack on Shiv Sena city chief Rambhau Parikh. On August 28, Komkar had lodged a police complaint against Vanraj and his brother, alleging a property dispute.
