Pune: In a troubling incident in Pune, a senior citizen has fallen victim to an admission scam involving an admission for a medical course. The elderly resident, aged 69, residing in the Kasba Peth area, has been defrauded of Rs 69.70 lakhs. Prompted by this deception, the plaintiff has lodged a complaint with the local police.
The complainant, a senior citizen residing in the Kasba Peth locality, wanted his son to pursue a medical degree, and for this, he was searching for admission to one of the medical colleges in the city. Meanwhile, during this period, they had become acquainted with Sunil Gadkar, who seemed to assist them with the process. Gadkar had gained their trust over time.
Relying on Gadkar's assurances, the complainant handed over a significant sum of Rs 69.70 lakhs for securing admissions for his son, as per their discussions. However, despite the passage of a year, the promised admissions never materialised, leaving the family in distress. Shockingly, despite repeated requests for the return of the funds, the plaintiff received no refund from the accused.
Frustrated by the lack of progress in this regard, the plaintiff lodged a complaint at the Vishrambaug Police Station. Consequently, a case has been registered against Sunil Namdev Gadkar, aged 32, residing in Ganeshyog Society, Ambegaon Budruk. The complaint alleges fraudulent activities and deception in relation to the promised medical college admissions.
