Pune, August 29, 2024: Today, on August 29, a distressing incident occurred when an unidentified woman jumped into the Indrayani River, a moment that quickly went viral on social media. This marks the second such incident within just five days.

The viral video shows the woman struggling in the river's strong currents, desperately calling out for help. Despite her pleas, no one was able to come to her aid, and she ultimately drowned. The river's powerful flow, heightened by continuous rainfall in the area, made any potential rescue efforts nearly impossible. The tragic scene was captured by a bystander on his mobile phone.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from the Alandi police, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), swiftly arrived at the scene to begin a rescue operation. However, the woman's identity remains unknown, and the motive behind her actions has yet to be determined.

This incident closely follows a similar tragedy that occurred on Sunday, when a female police constable, Anushka Kedar, took her own life by jumping into the same river. After four days of intensive search efforts, the NDRF and Alandi police teams were able to recover her body today from the riverbed near Golegaon village.
