Pune: In an absolutely shocking incident, Pimpri-Chinchwad police have arrested a physical training (PT) teacher of a school for the sexually harassing a minor student. As many as 6 school authorities have also been arrested in this case for reappointing the rogue teacher who had was convicted in a similar offence in 2018.

The father of the 12-year-old in the new case lodged an FIR against the 56-year-old PT teacher at a police station in Pimpri Chinchwad on Friday. A teacher from Nigdi area said this arrested PT teacher has had a bad reputation and is known for chasing girls and teachers.

On August 21, 2024, when the girl had gone to the school washroom, the PT followed her. When she came out, he allegedly touched her and demanded a kiss, the FIR stated.

This man has been booked under sections 74, 78, 79, 351 (2), 115 (2), 13 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

“A local court had sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for three years in the 2018 case. He was out on bail and had appealed in the Bombay High Court," the police said.

Police produced the accused persons before a court on Saturday. ThePT teacher and school principal were remanded to police custody till August 29, while the other accused were granted judicial custody.

The police said that the PT teacher had been harassing the minor since 2022. 

The accused used to repeatedly touch her with bad intentions and allegedly threatened to kill her if she narrated the incidents to anyone, the police said.

The teacher misbehaved with her during the PT class and also followed her when she used to go to the washroom inside the school premises.
