New Delhi: In a big relief to Aam Aadmi Party and INDIA bloc, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has emerged as a force to reckon on nation's political terrain, has been granted bail by the Supreme Court which has once again raised hopes among Indians that they would not be denied justice at the highest court of the land.

A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan today delivered the order, granting bail to Mr Kejriwal. The judges though differed in their views while granting the bailin the excise case. On September 5, the judges had reserved their order after hearing the case.

Today's bail was granted in the CBI case. The CBI had arrested him after Mr Kejriwal was given bail in the excise registered by the ED. Mr Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case related to excise policy which has now become defunct. The top court had granted him interim bail on July 12. However, the CBI arrested him on July 26 in a corruption case related to excise policy scam.

Welcoming the bail granted to Mr Kejriwal, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said,''Justice has finally prevailed. Though Mr Kejriwal had no role to play in the matter, he was arrested just because the Central Government was afraid of facing the Lok Sabha election. The Centre knew if Mr Kejriwal remains out of jail, the BJP Government in Delhi will be unseated. And that's why the government arrested him in cooked up charges.''
