Pune: The Yerawada Regional Office of Pune Municipal Corporation has had a disturbing event wherein the documentation pertaining to various development works completed have vanished, resulting in a startling discovery. This information was revealed after concerned RTI activists sought information on developmental work done in the Yerawada region.

In this regard, therefore, the municipal administration has filed a complaint in 'Lost and Found' and requested the Deputy Commissioner of Police by correspondence to find the files in earnest.

The Pune Municipal Corporation does developmental work within its area every year with crores of rupees. Similarly, the municipal corporation has done various developmental works worth crores of rupees in the Yerawada region. However, some citizens suspect that the money has been given to some contractors even when they have not completed the work. To search for it, they filed the RTI application about the developmental work.

RTI activist Sanchal Kadam had sought information on cleaning and repairing drainage under Tender No. 28 of 2018, works at Yerawada Crematorium under Tender No. 41 of 2015, and tenders for laying new drainage channels. The municipality replied to Kadam that the files for these works were missing from the office. After appealing against this, Kadam again got the same reply.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the regional office approached the police station and requested to file a case. Meanwhile, Kadam approached the state information authorities, which questioned the municipality officials about this carelessness. On this, the municipality has written to the Deputy Commissioner of Police and requested him to find the missing files from the office. But the missing files are still not found.

Chandrasen Nagtilak, in-charge assistant commissioner of the Yerwada Regional Office, said, "The files seeking information about the development work done under the Yerwada Regional Office have gone missing from the office. Therefore, the police have been requested to search the files by correspondence."
