Pune: A heated argument over roadside parking turned violent on Sunday, resulting in a rickshaw driver biting the thumb of a retired policeman, causing a serious injury to the retired policeman. The incident occurred in Ravivar Peth, where Dnyaneshwar Khandu Bendre (66), a retired police officer residing in Ayodhyanagari, Pragatinagar, Bopodi, had gone for shopping with his wife.

According to the complaint filed by Bendre at Khadak Police Station, the altercation began when Ganesh Somnath Bhusawalkar (60), a rickshaw driver from Heramb Kashinath Society, Dhankawadi, Balajinagar, passed by while carrying passengers. Bendre was removing his bike from the roadside when Bhusawalkar came there.

Seeing Bendre's bike on the road, Bhusawalkar allegedly abused Bendre. Because of this, both had a fiery argument on the road. Enraged by this, the accused rickshaw driver grabbed Bendre's shirt and bit his right thumb tightly.

During the scuffle, Bhusawalkar grabbed Bendre's t-shirt and bit his right thumb, breaking a part of it near the nail. In this assault, the part of Bendre's thumb near the nail was broken.
