Pune: Yesterday, on June 6, a major accident took place between a two-wheeler and a four-wheeler in Shirur in which a worker driving the two-wheeler died on the spot, whereas a person sitting back to the deceased individual received major injuries. The deceased individual was a labourer and was crushed by a four wheeler late at night.

The deceased individual was Deepak Jalinder Yethekar, a resident of Gundegaon, and the injured individual is Ranganath Bansi Adhav. In this regard, the cousin of the deceased individual, Amol Goraksh Yethekar, a resident of Ahilyanagar, filed a complaint at the police station.

According to the police information, Deepak was riding the motorcycle along with Rangnath Adhav to bring a lunch box in the night on Yemai-Pargaon Road. At that time, a speeding ECO car was travelling in the wrong direction towards Pargaon from the Kavthe Yemai side. As the car driver did not turn the headlight on, they collided with the two-wheeler, resulting in the death of Deepak Yethekar.

After the accident, people from a four-wheeler absconded from the scene. It is learned that people sitting in the four-wheeler were returning after celebrating the birthday party of one of their friends in a nearby Dhaba. Surprisingly, the driver who was driving the car was a minor and was also drunk.

The police have initiated an investigation into the case. They are searching the car with the help of CCTV cameras in the area. This incident has also caused distress among the local people, who are demanding strict action against the perpetrators.
