Pune: As May unfolds, sweltering heat grips many parts of Maharashtra, with temperatures soaring close to 40 degrees Celsius. Residents are grappling with the intense heat, seeking respite from the scorching conditions. However, in the coming time, people may get some relief from this increase in temperature as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a slight rainfall and lightning along with some hailstorms in the Vidarbha, Marathwada, and western Maharashtra regions over the next two days.

Recent days have seen a cloudy atmosphere provide some relief from the relentless heat across Maharashtra. With IMD's prediction of rainfall in central Maharashtra and the Marathwada region, along with hailstorms in parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada on Monday, residents are hopeful for relief from the oppressive weather.

Temperatures across the state have been steadily rising, with Solapur district registering the highest temperature at 42.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Similarly, Chandrapur and Yavatmal districts witnessed temperatures crossing 42 degrees Celsius. In Marathwada, districts like Parbhani, Nanded, and Akola, as well as Vidarbha districts like Amravati, Brahmapuri, Nagpur, Washim, and Wardha, have experienced temperatures consistently above 40 degrees Celsius.

Sporadic rainfall is expected in Nagpur, Gondia, and Yavatmal, with a yellow alert issued for these regions. Chandrapur and Gadchiroli are on high alert for heavy rain accompanied by hailstorms and gusty winds, while Akola may experience rain accompanied by thunder.

Pune is anticipated to experience clear skies on Monday. However, IMD predicts partly cloudy conditions on Tuesday, with the possibility of light rain and cloudy weather on Wednesday. Koregaon Park in Pune saw the highest temperature in the city, while areas like Lohgaon, Chinchwad, Lavale, and Magarpatta recorded temperatures nearing 33 to 35 degrees Celsius.
