Pune’s Prominent Dhol Tasha Troop Protests Against Rising Violence Against Women, Calls For Gender Equality
Pune-based Shivagarjana Dhol Tasha Pathak, a prominent group known for introducing the culture of Dhol Tasha and advocating for women’s participation in these traditional music ensembles, has taken a strong stance against the increasing incidents of rape in India.
The group has called for swift action against these crimes and emphasized the need for gender equality. Lalit Pawar, the head of Shivagarjana, said, “Shivagarjana was formed with the idea of promoting equal participation of men and women. This year, we are deeply saddened by the incidents of rape, and we believe it is the right time to raise awareness against such sick and devious mentalities. During this Ganeshotsav, Shivagarjana will march with banners and placards bearing messages of awareness and equality.”
