All the other accused have been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. The accused included the parents of the minor car driver, two doctors, one worker of the Sassoon Hospital, and two mediators.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade said, "We have filed a 900-page charge sheet in the Pune court on Thursday. Statements of around 50 witnesses have been recorded in the charge sheet. Further, in this charge sheet, reports such as accident outcome analysis, technical evidence, forensic laboratory tests, and DNA tests have also been included.
The police had submitted the final report of the accused before the Juvenile Justice Board on June 18. It contained CCTV footage of his house and CCTV footage of the hotel where he had been partying. He had also consumed alcohol there. The statements of the friends who were with the accused were also taken.
At midnight on May 19, the minor accused struck two engineers in the Kalyaninagar area while driving under the influence of alcohol. Following the incident, the minor was granted bail within 15 hours of detention, sparking widespread public outrage. The case quickly gained significant attention, with the public demanding a thorough investigation. In response to the growing uproar, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Pune to address the issue at a press conference, assuring the public that strict punishment would be pursued against the perpetrators.
