Pune Police Filed Comprehensive Chargesheet In Sharad Mohol Case After 139 Days: Masterminds Shelar And Marne Among 18 Charged Under MCOCA

Pune: On Friday, May 24, the Pune Police filed a 1750-page charge sheet in the court of special judge V. R. Kachre against eighteen accused in the notorious gangster Sharad Mohol murder case. In this charge sheet, the Pune Police named Vitthal Shelar and Ganesh Marne as key plotters behind the murder, and all other accused, including Vitthal Shelar and Ganesh Marne, have been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
The Pune Police have informed that after this, the charges will be fixed against all these accused, and hearings in this case will start after that.
In the gangster Sharad Mohol murder case, which took place on January 5 in the Sutardara area of Kothrud, the Pune Police have registered a case against 18 accused at Kothrud Police Station.
Out of these, Pune Police have taken action against 17 accused under the MCOCA, which includes the main conspirators Ganesh Marne and Vitthal Shelar, attackers Sahil alias Munna Santosh Polekar, Amit alias Amar Maruti Kangude, and Vitthal Kisan Gandle, along with Advocate Ravindra Pawar, Advocate Sanjay Udan, Namdev Mahipati Kangude, Chandrakant Shahu Shelke, Vinayak Santosh Gavhankar, Ramdas alias Waghya Marne, Dhananjay Maruti Vatkar, Satish Sanjay Shedge, Nitin Ananta Khaire, Aditya Vijay Gole, and Santosh Damodar Kurpe, whereas the investigation of the one female accused is going on.
In this case, following the lapse of the initial period for filing the charge sheet, the crime branch requested a ninety-day extension from the special court. However, the court granted only a thirty-day extension. Subsequently, the crime branch, citing the provisions of the 'MCOCA' Act, filed the charge sheet after 139 days, having received further extensions.
The investigation of the case was carried out by a team led by Assistant Commissioner Sunil Tambe, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Amol Zende.
