Pune Metro Pune’s Daily Passenger Count Exceeds One Lakh in July

After the inauguration of Ruby Hall Clinic Metro Station to Ramwadi Metro Station on March 6, 2024, the passenger numbers of Pune Metro are continuously increasing.

 From July 1 to July 31, 2024, a total of 31,20,293 passengers used the Metro service, with an average daily passenger count of 106,101. During this period, Pune Metro generated an income of Rs. 4,98,04,817.l, stated a press releaase.

 Of the total passengers, 1070655 travelled from PCMC Metro Station to District Court Metro Station (Purple,Line 1), and 2049638 travelled from Vanaz Metro Station to Ramwadi Metro Station (Aqua,Line 2). It has been observed that the number of passengers traveling on the Vanaz Metro Station to Ramwadi Metro Station route is higher than those traveling from PCMC Metro Station to District Court Metro Station.

The One Pune Card of Pune Metro has also been well-received by passengers. To date, 53,025 cards have been sold, including 11,646 student cards. Students benefit from a 30% discount on passenger fares with the Pune Metro Vidyarthi Pass, which is valid every day, including weekends. As a result, students are extensively using this card.

Pune Metro currently has 24 operational stations. 

The stations with the highest passenger numbers are PCMC station (approx. 14000 passengers per day), Ramwadi station (approx. 11000 passengers per day), Pune Railway Metro station (approx. 8000 passengers per day), Vanaz station (approx. 7500 passengers per day), Nal stop station (Approx. 7000 passengers per day), recorded at these 5 stations. It has been observed that approximately 24,878 passengers travel from the Purple Line to the Aqua Line and Aqua Line to Purple Line on daily basis at District Court Interchange Metro Station.

The feeder bus service has been started on 13 routes in association with Pune Metro and PMPML. Currently, more than 10,000 passengers are availing of this feeder service daily. More than 400 passengers are availing the feeder bus service from Ramwadi station to the airport, while more than 1000 passengers are availing the feeder bus service from Ramwadi Metro station to EON IT Park which was started recently. 

Metro and PMPML are working to expand feeder bus services to more routes.

The route from Ruby Hall Clinic Metro Station to Ramwadi Metro Station was opened on March 6, 2024. Before this, the daily passenger count was 55,000. Since then, the number of passengers has surpassed 100,000 within three months.

On this occasion, Mr Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Maha Metro, said, "The increase in passenger numbers for Pune Metro is very encouraging. The growing number of passengers indicates a strengthening public transport system. So far, 53,025 passengers have obtained One Pune Card, allowing them to travel on the metro independently. The feeder services from Ramwadi Metro Station to the airport and EON IT Park are receiving a positive response. PMPML and Maha Metro are effortlessly working to expand feeder services to more routes."
