Pune: After enduring extreme heat, Punekars are now experiencing much-needed relief as heavy rains have lashed the city over the past two days. This recent downpour has broken a 34-year record for rainfall in Pune city and the district. The continuous rainfall has led to flood-like conditions in some areas.

According to data, Pune district has recorded 209 mm of rain in the past nine days. This is a significant increase compared to June 2019, which saw only 74 mm of rain. On June 8, 2024, Lohgaon recorded 139.8 mm of rain, Shivajinagar 117 mm, and Indapur in the district recorded 110 mm.
