PCMC to conduct survey of illegal hoardings

Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has launched survey to find out illegal hoardings in the industrial city.

The survey has been launched in the wake of the Ghatkopar hoarding tragedy inciden which killed 16 people.

Pimpri-Chinchwad had also witnessed a similar incident in 2023 when a hoarding had collapsed, killing five people in Kiwale area. Then, the police had launched a case against the person who gave the space to erect the hoarding and also against the contractor who erected the hoarding.

Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh said in 2023 after the Kiwale incident, they had razed nearly 200 illegal hoardings.

''Now we will conduct a survey for two days about illegal hoardings. And then from Monday, we will take action against them,'' he said.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Khot said there are 1136 authorised hoardings in Pimpri-Chinchwad. ''Of these, 652 have so far submitted structural stability certificates to prove that their hoardings are stable and secured,'' he said
