Panvel Exit On Expressway To Be Shut For 6 Months
Pune: The Panvel exit on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway heading towards Mumbai city will be closed for six months beginning February 11, reported The Free Press Journal on Sunday.
The closure is because the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is working on the Kalamboli Junction upgrade project, which includes building a new flyover and an underpass at Kalamboli Circle.
Under the Motor Vehicles Act, Tirupati Kakade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Navi Mumbai, gave the directive. The closure would remain in place until the constructiob work is finished, said the report.
All vehicles, both light and heavy, heading towards Panvel, Mumbra, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust will be impacted by the closure, according to Navi Mumbai traffic police officers. The closure is in place to ensure efficient work and avoid traffic in the vicinity.
The report has also mentioned alternative routes for passengers heading towards Mumbai at Panvel.
Vehicles traveling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway towards Panvel, Goa, and JNPT will be rerouted at Konphata (9.600 km) to NH-48 via Palaspe Circle to reach their destinations.
Vehicles travelling from Pune to Mumbai and destined for Taloja, Kalyan, and Shilphata should continue straight from 1.200 km on the Panvel-Sion Highway, turn right under the Purusharth Petrol Pump flyover, and follow the path through Roadpali and NH-48.
