'Paintshops Causing Major Pollution, Need To Find Sustainable Solution'
Pune: "In every manufacturing industry, major percentage of pollution is caused in Paintshops and due to the use of fossil fuel used for paint baking oven. Hence, paint industry should work for sustainable solutions to reduce VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) in paints and formulate the paints so that it should dry at ambient or lower temperatures," said SJR Kutty, VP and chief sustainability officer of Tata Motors as a chief guest at the Sustainability Conclave 2024 organised by Kwality Paints in Pimpri, recently.
He praised the efforts taken by Kwality Paints for developing Water borne technology for the first time in India for Automotive and Industrial applications which reduce VOC emissions by almost 98% and help creating greener environment in the paint shop and society general, stated a press release.
He also highlighted on the need of research required for recycling and reuse of painted components after their life cycle is over.
The keynote address was delivered by Yogita Divekar, Material Lab Leader, Cummins India Ltd. She emphasised on the collaborative approach between Kwality Paints and Cummins India team for implementing this Water-based Technology specifically for the High Horse Power Engines.
Prashant Gangwar from Covestro India explained the global perspective for addressing sustainability issues with the technological advancements in Water- based Resins and allied products.
