31st Orange City Craft Fair To Be Held From 10th To 19th January 2025 In SCZCC Nagpur
Orange City Craft Fair and Folk Dance Festival, 10 day grand event hosted by South Central Zone Cultural Center
More than 200 folk dance artists to perform in the Festival
Nagpur, 9 January 2025: The national level “Orange City Craft Fair and Folk Dance Festival”, organized every year by the South Central Zone Cultural Center, Nagpur, Ministry of Culture, Government of India will be held this year from 10th to 19th January 2025. The fair includes presentation of folk and tribal dances from different states of the country, exhibition and sale of handicrafts and delicious dishes. The much-awaited 31st Orange City Craft Mela and Folk Dance Festival will be inaugurated on 10th January 2025 at 6.30 pm.
During the festival, entry in the Handicraft Fair will be open from 2.00 pm to 9.30 pm from 10th to 19th January 2025. The presentation of folk dances will start at 6.30 pm on the main stage. Around 150 artisans will participate in the Handicraft Fair and more than 200 folk and tribal artists will participate in the event. Along with the craft stalls in the Orange City Craft Mela, there will be stalls of traditional Indian cuisine from different states of India as a special attraction.
The folk and tribal dance presentation, from 10th to 13th January 2025 at 6.30 pm will include Hojagiri dance (Tripura), Mayur, Charkula (Uttar Pradesh), Kalbelia (Rajasthan), Maskarat (Puducherry), Bhangra (Punjab) and Gotipua (Odisha).
From 10th to 15th January 2025, Kachhi Ghori (Rajasthan) artists will enthrall the audience with their beautiful performance
On 14th January 2025 at 6.30 pm, a presentation of the program ‘Maharashtrachi Lokdhara’ will be organised by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai.
Folk and tribal dance performances including Ghoomar/Phaag (Haryana), Siddhi Dhamal (Gujarat), Karkattam (Tamil Nadu), Rouf (Jammu Kashmir) and Afilo Kuvo (Nagaland) and Singhi Cham/Snow Lion (Sikkim) will be performed from 16th to 19th January 2025, at 6.30 pm. Bahuroopi (Rajasthan) artists will also enthrall the audience with their performances in different costumes.
A large number of artisans and talented artists from various states of India will be participating in the festival. It will include craftsmen of hand block printing, embroidery, Jamdani, Rangkote, Banarasi etc.
Paid parking facility for the fair has been arranged at Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Auditorium and MLA House premise in the Civil Lines.The entry fee for this event has been fixed at Rs. 30/- per person per day.Astha Karlekar, Director of SCZCC has appealed to the art-loving audiences and citizens to participate in this 10 day extravaganza . Karlekar also clarified on that in the backdrop of the outbreak of the HMPV virus, all the guidelines given by the central government will be followed in this fair .Deepak Kulkarni, Assistant Director (Programs) and Administrative Officer Deepak Patil were present in this press conference arranged to inform about the 31st edition of Orange City Craft Fair.
