11 New Police Stations In Pune, Pimpri Soon
Pimpri: Even as crime, especially the koyta kind, is increasing in Pune, citizens can heave a sigh of relief. Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar today said sanction for a total of 11 new police stations -- seven for Pune city and four for Pimpri Chinchwad -- will soon be set up.
The Pune police commissioner, said Pawar, him that seven more police stations are required. "I have given a sanction for them just yesterday. Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner said that four more police stations are needed in their jurisdiction. I have given sanction for that too,
Pawar was addressing a rally of Nationalist Congress Party workers and supporters in Chakan area of Pune.
Pune City jurisdiction currently has a total of 32 police stations including a dedicated police station for Cyber crimes. Pimpri Chinchwad police 18 police stations including the Cyber crime police station.
Pawar spoke about various illegal activities going on in the temple towns of Dehu and Alandi. "Lakhs of devotees from visit these places every year. If these illegal activities do not stop, I will take strict action against those responsible. I will spare no one."
In last two three years, Pawar said, over Rs 50 crore have been alloted for vehicles for these police units.
"We are giving the police other facilities too. When all this is happening, isn't it their responsibility to properly maintain law and order, keeping illegal activities in check?" Pawar asked
