Those who had an allergy to Nawab Malik, what happened to them in one year?
Pune: The Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) rally organized in Anushakti Nagar brought together a diverse gathering of leaders and citizens to address the pressing concerns of the region and the ongoing fight for justice. Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) Working President Supriya Sule, alongside Samajwadi Party's Abu Azmi and Fahad Ahmed, and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Chandrakant Handore, delivered a stirring speech that underscored the need for accountability, justice, and empowerment in Maharashtra.
Supriya Sule opened her speech by referencing the allegations against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, saying, "Allegations of 100 crores were raised against Anil Deshmukh, but only 1 crore was mentioned in the FIR. For seven months, Deshmukh saheb was in jail. His grandchildren asked - why is our dadaji in jail? Can you think about the situation of his family, of his children?"
Her speech then turned to the case of Nawab Malik, another key figure who had faced serious charges. "If there was one person who spoke about drugs in this state, it was Nawab Bhai. What did they do to him? They put him in jail," she stated, as the crowd responded with applause. Sule expressed her disappointment at Nawab Malik’s recent political shift: "I feel sorry when I see Nawab Bhai in the BJP. The same party that put you in jail, you have joined them. When Nawab Bhai was put in jail, when he had to go to court, when he was in the hospital - who was by his side?"
Sule recalled the hardship faced by Malik’s family, reflecting on their emotional ordeal. "I have seen the tears of Nawab Bhai's wife, of his children. Nawab Bhai may have forgotten the injustice against him by the BJP - but I have not forgotten."
Sule emphasized the strength of the MVA and the support from key allies during challenging times. "I am grateful to Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav for standing by us during that difficult time. They used to call me, they said they will stand by us even after our name and symbol was taken away."
As the rally continued, Sule turned her focus to local issues in Anushakti Nagar, promising change for the constituency. "I promise you that the next MLA from Anushakti Nagar will be from the MVA. And when our MLA is elected to power, the road you walked on - which had potholes everywhere - will be fixed and we will have another program here."
She also touched upon the concerns raised by women in the area, highlighting their demand for safety and support over financial handouts. "The women here tell me, we don't want 1,500 rupees. We want women's safety. We will give you 2,000 rupees but keep our children," she said, resonating with the crowd.
