Pune: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday walked out of Tihar jail today amidst a heroic welcome by AAP rank and file.
In the morning, the Supreme Court of India granted bail to Mr Kejriwal in the CBI’s corruption case in connection with the excise policy case.
AAP workers and supporters turned out in big numbers to greet Mr Kejrwail when he walked out of the Tihar jail.
Speaking to his supporters, Mr Kejriwal looking weak and frail said that he will continue fighting the “anti-national forces working to weaken our country.”
In a befitting riposte, Mr Kejriwal said that prisons cannot weaken him, and that his morale is now higher than ever.
“You have braved rain to come here,” Mr Kejriwal told his supporters while thanking those who had prayed for his release.
“Every drop of my blood is dedicated in the service of my nation. I have faced difficulties but God has always been with me,” he said.
The two judges who unanimously decided to grant bail to Kejriwal, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan differed from Justice Kant regarding the CBI arrest and said it was only to “frustrate bail” granted in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case. In a separate concurring judgement, Justice Bhuyan said that it was “imperative that CBI dispels the notion of it being a caged parrot.”
