"Marathi Language Also Has The Right To Demand Elite Status"

Pune : "It is not a fact that Sanskrit is the mother of Marathi language. It has been found from many inscriptions that Marathi was written in the pre-Sanskrit period as well. Marathi language has a rich ancient history. 

A lot of knowledge and scripts has been created through Marathi language,"said NCP national president Sharad Pawar asserted that Marathi language has the right to demand elite status.

He also mentioned that it is appreciable that Sharad Krida and Sanskrutik Pratishthan organized a poetry competition and brought some of the poems in book form in order to give the Marathi language an elite status.

On the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, the Sharad Krida and Sanskrutik Pratishthan organized a silver jubilee program 'Vithu Mauli Majhi' and the publication of the book 'Marathi Abhijat', which includes the poems of the competition organized to give the Marathi language an elite status, on Wednesday. The book was published by Pawar. He was exressing his thoughts. The program was organized at Balgandharva Rangmandir. Senior industrialist Vitthalaka Maniyar, Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, President of Sharad Krida and Sanskrutik Pratishthan Laxmikant Khabia, Senior Journalist Shriram Pawar, Working President of Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad Prof. Milind Joshi, writer-historian Sanjay Sonwani were present.

'Sant Sheikh Mohammed' Movie Poster Unveiled

On this occasion, the poster of the movie 'Sant Sheikh Mohammed' was unveiled by dignitaries. Arifbhai Sheikh, a descendant of Saint Sheikh Muhammad was present at that time.

Sharad Pawar also mentioned the contribution of G. D. Madgulkar and Sudhir Phadke in the field of Marathi language.

MP Supriya Sule said, "We are trying to put aside political differences and give Marathi language a elite status. Marathi language is our mother and social campaign is needed to preserve it. It is necessary to increase the taste of reading literary works in the mother tongue among the young generation and there should be a discussion about the language in order to preserve the pride and glory of the Marathi language. She also appealed that the young generation should not be inferior towards the mother tongue and should be determined to preserve the culture of Maharashtra."

In the beginning, Laxmikant Khabia reviewed the progress of 27 years of the organization and gave information about the activities being implemented by the organization in Maharashtra.

Shriram Pawar said, Marathi is a biologically developed language. It has an elite status.

Sanjay Sonwani said, the journey of Marathi language is relentless. Although language changes with time, it must remain ongoing. The number of Marathi readers should increase.

Sharad Chandra Pawar was honored by wearing Warkari Patka, Uparne and Tulsihar. Supriya Sule was also felicitated by offering Tulsihar. Program was anchored by Ravindra Khare and vote of thanks was given by Ashwini Pacharne.

Renowned singers Suranjan Khandalkar, Swarpriya Behere, Sachin Ingle performed devotional songs in the program 'Vithu Mauli Majhi'. Accompanied by Amrita Thakurdesai-Divekar, Nilesh Deshpande, Vikram Bhat, Kedar More, Somnath Salunkhe. Sachin Ingle composed the music while veteran actor Ravindra Khare gave an interesting presentation. The 'Vithu Mauli Majhi' program was started with the chant 'Adhi Vandila Varad Vinayak'. After that, 'Roop Parita Lochani', 'Adhi Rachili Pandhari', 'Tya Phulanchya Gandakoshi', 'Kamodini Kay Jana', 'Khel Mandiyela', 'Kanada Raja Pandharicha', 'Vithu Mauli Tu' etc. were presented.
