Man, wife arrested for killing his sister, chopping her body after property dispute

Pune: Unravelling a gruesome incident, the Pune city police today arrested a woman's brother and his wife, for allegedly murdering her and chopping her body into pieces. They did this gruesome over property dispute.

The deceased woman's name is Sakina Abdul Khan (48), a resident of Bhaiyya Wadi near Dalvi Hospital in Shivajinagar.

Her alleged killers are Ashpak Abdul Khan (51) and his wife Hamida (45).

Sakina's torso was found in the riverbed near a construction site in Kharadi on August 26.

 Her head, both hands and legs were missing. 

To identify the deceased, the police had formed investigation teams. 

The teams verified details of about 200 women of age between 30 years and 60 years, who were reported missing in Pune city and Pimpri-Chinchwad police since August 1, 2024. 

On August 30, police got information that a woman named Sakina Khan was missing from the Shivajinagar area. 

Police traced her family members and got a missing report registered as per which Sakina was not seen after August 23, stated a press release issued by Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Pune City Police.

During further investigation, police confirmed that Sakina was murdered by her brother Ashpak and sister in law Hamida following a dispute over their property, which included their residential house and other valuables, police said. Police arrested the two suspects on Saturday.

Sakina was unmarried and she was involved in dispute over property with her brother. After a quarrel on August Ashpak and Hamida murdered Sakina by strangling her with a wire, the police said

Then they chopped her body into pieces with a sharp weapon and then dumped the body into riverbed.
