Pune: The Maharashtra School Education Department has decided to cancel the Republic Day holiday for schools.Traditionally, students were given a holiday after the flag hoisting ceremony on January 26. However, starting from 2025, students will be required to participate in various activities and events organized within the school.

A circular issued by the School Education Department on Tuesday has instructed both government and private schools to host a series of patriotic events throughout the day. However, the decision has sparked considerable debate.
