Maharashtra Assembly Election: Candidate From Chinchwad, Pune Challenges Others To Offer Right To Recall
Pune: Maruti Bhapkar, a veteran social activist of Pune , Pimpri Chinchwad has circulated a unique guarantee card to voters of Chinchwad Assembly constituency near Pune.
The Card assures of the appointment of an Ombudsman in the form of a prominent and reputed retired Judge if elected by the voters, stated campaign managers of the candidate.
Any voter who has the card, has contributed Rs 100/- for Bhapkar's campaign and posted a post card giving 3 suggestions and problems can lodge a complaint in respect of any misconduct by Bhapkar as an MLA, his associates said.
If the ombudsman finds truth in the complaint and holds Bhapkar guilty, Bhapkar has to resign as MLA, the campaign team claimed.
This extraordinary power of *'Right to Recall'* being offered to voters is catching the attention of not only the common voters but also other candidates.
Bhapkar has assured the 8 lakh affected citizens living in about 2 lakh houses within the blue floodlines of Rivers Pavana and Mula that he will ensure no house or Shop is demolished if he is voted to power.
For the other 8 lakh citizens living in about 1 lakh unauthorised constructions outside the blue floodlines, Bhapkar has offered to propose a Law for these illegal constructions similar to the Slum Protection Act which protects Slum dwellers and provides for rehabilitation before demolition.
Bhapkar has offered citizens quality and cheap educational facilities for school and college students, quick , cheap and high quality medical services, efficient and reliable public transport , good roads and enough opportunities for employment to youth etc.
Knowing that citizens are fed up with the rampant corruption in government offices and have to undergo lot of harassment Bhapkar has promised to never accept any bribe from anyone for any work done and threatened a strict drive against corrupt State Government and Municipal officials to provide a clean and hassle free administration.
Associated with leading social like Anna Hazare, Medha Patkar , Yogendra Yadav, Advocate Prashant Bhushan and many others, Bhapkar claims to have introduced Arvind Kejriwal to Anna Hazare when he was a PCMC corporator and Kejriwal a non entity and unknown figure then.
Dozens of NGOs, social activists of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have offered their support to Bhapkar in his bid to wrest the seat from.the ruling BJP.
In an unprecedented dare to all candidates of the 3 Pimpri Chinchwad constituencies of Bhosari, Chinchwad and Pimpri, Bhapkar has asked all of them to offer a similar guarantee card so that he could withdraw his candidature.
The deadline for candidates to accept this challenge is 4 days till the last date of withdrawal.
Citizens are waiting with bated breadth to see the response of all candidates to this first time ever challenge by any candidate in the polling history of the State.
