Pune: In good news for Punekars, it is said that Pune Metro is expected to open its route from District Court to Swargate before the Ganeshotsav festival. Atul Gadgil, Director of Maha Metro, has given information about it. 95 percent of the work for the underground metro route from the District Court to Swargate has been completed, and the remaining work is expected to be completed until July end.

As the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections are coming up in the next three to four months, the Maha Metro has decided to start metro on this route before the announcement of the model code of conduct.

The District Court to Swargate is a 3.64-kilometre route with three stations in between, such as Bhudhwar Peth, Mandai, and Swargate. The testing of this underground route was conducted in February.

Notably, the route from the District Court to Budhwar Peth passes under the Mutha river bed. The officials of Maha Metro confirmed that almost 95 percent of the work has been completed so far, and they will try to complete the remaining work as soon as possible.

It has been learned that after the completion of work on the Metro route, the Metro Railway Safety Commissioner will be called for the inspection of the route. After getting clearance from him, the proposal to start service on this route will be sent to the state government. This process is expected to take a time period of 2 to 3 months, and hence the Maha Metro has planned to open this route for Punekars till September end.

This project is very significant considering the convenience it will provide to devotees during the Ganeshotsav festival. Almost all the revered Ganesh Mandals of Pune and other Ganpati, such as Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandal and Shri Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati, and others, are situated in the central part of Pune. In the Ganeshotsav, devotees face a lot of problems going to Pune, considering the traffic problem and congested road. This problem will be solved after the opening of Metro service on this route.

"The work of the District Court to Swargate metro line is 95 percent complete. This work will be completed by the end of July. We are trying to start the service on this route before Ganeshotsav," said Atul Gadgil, the director of Maha Metro.
