Leopard Attack In Shirur Taluka Claims Life Of 11-Year-Old Boy

Pune: In the Dahivadi village of Shirur Taluka, a school-going boy died yesterday in a leopard attack. The deceased boy has been identified as Yash Suresh Gaikwad, age 11, and he was studying in class 5. This incident has spread a shockwave in the area, and the entire village is mourning the death of a school-going boy.
The Gaikwad family is living in the Deomala area of Dahivadi village in Shirur. According to his parents, yesterday morning, Yash went to the sugarcane field in the back of his home. As Yash did not return after a long time, his family got worried, and they went to search for him. At that time, they saw Yash being attacked by a leopard on the sugarcane farm, and he has several injuries of attack on his body.
They immediately admitted Yash to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon their arrival. Meanwhile, village residents informed the forest department about the incident. Accordingly, Forest Range Officer Pratap Jagtap visited the spot along with his team.
Jagtap informed that six cages as well as trap cameras have been installed in Dahiwadi village to trap the leopard. This area will be monitored by drone cameras. The work of capturing the footprints of the leopard has started. He further said that information about how exactly Yash's death happened will be available through the autopsy report.
The villagers of Dahivadi have become much more terrified after the incident. In the last few days, the presence of leopards has increased in the area. Three people have died in leopard attacks in the last few days. The villagers of Shirur Taluka are scared due to these recurring incidents of leopard attacks.
