Kondhwa Police File Complaint Against Factory Owner and 4 Others After Four Workers Die While Unloading Glasses

Pune, September 30, 2024: Yesterday, in a tragic incident, four workers from the Yewalewadi factory died while unloading heavy glass on Sunday afternoon. In this regard, the Kondhwa police administration has stepped up its effort and registered a complaint of culpable homicide against five people, including the factory owner. 

This action has been taken by the police for not taking any measures for the safety of the workers in the factory and also for not providing sufficient safety equipment to them.

The people who face police action in this case have been identified as Hussain Tayyabarali Pithavala (38), the owner of India Glass Solutions, Hatim Hussain Motorwala (36), Sanjay Dhula Hirve (34), Contractor Suresh alias Baban Dadu Chavan, and Raju Dasharath Rasage. Dayanand Dyandev Rokade filed a complaint about the incident at Kondhwa police station.

In this unfortunate incident, four workers, Amit Shivshankar Kumar (34), Vikas Sarju Prasad Gautam (23), Dharmendra Satyapal Kumar (40), and Pawan Ramchandra Kumar, have died, and other four workers, Jagatpal Santram Saroj (49), Moneshwar Kuli (34), and Pintu Navnath Irkal (30), including the plaintiff Rokade, have been injured. It is learnt that all workers who lost their lives in it were originally natives of Uttar Pradesh.

As per the information, all the workers are employed at the India Glass Solutions factory on the Yewalewadi road. In this factory, large pieces of glass are cut as well as polished, and then from there, various types of glass are supplied to housing projects and commercial offices in the city.

On Sunday afternoon, the contractor, Suresh Chavan, brought the truck of glass pieces containing the raw material to the factory. However, while unloading the glasses from the truck, the strap that tied the glasses broke and pieces of glass fell on the workers.

Because of inadequate safety measures, four workers were immediately died in this incident after pieces of glass pierced their bodies. Assistant Police Inspector Rajesh Usgaonkar is investigating further in the incident.
