Kathak Performances by Pt. Manisha Sathe and 200 Disciples

Pune:Senior Kathak guru Pt. Manisha Sathe has organized the 'Kathak Nritya Sandhya' event in Pune to mark the 49th anniversary of the Manisha Nrityalaya institute, which she established. The program will take place on December 15, 2024, at 9:30 PM at Bal Gandharva Rangmandir. Pt. Manisha Sathe, along with her 200 disciples, will present mesmerizing Kathak performances.

The organizers have informed in a press release that donation passes for the event are available on ticketkhidkee.com.

Manisha Nrityalaya: A 'Life Dedicated to Nritya'

Pt. Manisha Sathe began her Kathak training at a young age in Pune under Pt. Balasaheb Gokhale. She further pursued her education under Pt. Gopi Krishna in Mumbai. During her illustrious and inspiring career, she has performed at prestigious platforms such as the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Sangeet Mahotsav, Khajuraho Nritya Festival, Shaniwarwada Nritya Festival, Lucknow Nritya Festival, Kamakhya Festival (Guwahati), Nehru Centre (Mumbai), and Tata Theatre.

She has also showcased her talent internationally in countries like the United States, China, Bahrain, Switzerland, and Sweden.

Her hallmark lies in blending modern and global music into Kathak. She has even performed Kathak with Japanese music and has collaborated with Japanese musician and Taiko drummer Yasuhito Takimoto over the last 15 years, presenting numerous fusion performances.

Pt. Manisha Sathe has choreographed Nritya for films like Sarkarnama and Varsa Laxmicha. She has been honored with the Maharashtra State Award and the Alpha TV Best Choreographer Award.

She runs an institution called Manisha Nrityalaya Trust, dedicated to teaching Kathak Nritya. Many of her students have received scholarships from the Cultural Department of the Government of India, stated a press release.
