Pune: Yesterday, the Home Minister of the State and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the Pune Commissionerate in the backdrop of the highly charged Kalyaninagar 'Hit and Run' case. At that time, Fadnavis also held a press conference, and he informed that they had decided to seek an appeal against the order of the Juvenile Justice Board.

While speaking on the issue, Fadnavis said, "This incident has caused a huge amount of anger and displeasure among the people. Because of this, I have come here to get complete information about the incident from the Commissioner of Police." Fadnavis said that the police have taken immediate action after the incident and are also investigating the matter deeply.

Fadnavis said that the decision given by the Juvenile Justice Board is shocking, and they have decided to make an appeal against its order in the session court. "When the minor accused child was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, the board took a very humble approach and asked the accused minor to do community service for 15 days. When he was presented before the court, he was 17 years and 8 months old."

Fadnavis also referred to the judgement in the Nirbhaya case, in which it was stated to consider the minor accused of heinous crimes an adult if he is more than 16 years old.

On the allegations of dereliction of duty by police officers, Fadnavis backed the police department and said that the police investigation is going in the right direction. "The police took appropriate action in the accident case. The police took action and imposed Section 304. Further, police also detained the child's father and the owner and manager of 'Cosie' and 'Blak' hotels."

On Tuesday, the court remanded three-day police custody to the owner and manager of 'Cosie' and 'Blak' hotels, who were arrested in the hit-and-run case in Kalyani Nagar for allowing the minor to drink alcohol in the hotel. Judge S. P. Ponkshe has given this order. The names of the accused who have been sent to police custody are Naman Prahlad Bhutda, owner of Cosie Hotel; Sachin Ashok Katkar, manager; and Sandeep Ramesh Sangle, owner of Hotel Blak.

Meanwhile, Advocate Asim Sarode and Advocate Shriya Awale have filed an intervention application on behalf of all Punekars. During the argument, Advocate Asim Sarode said that filing two separate FIRs for the same accident was a deliberate mistake by the police. He also alleged that in this accident case, weak charges were intentionally filed by police against the accused.
