A plane with 181 people on board crashed at South Korea's Muan airport after it veered off the runway while landing, killing at least 28 people, reported NDTV. As per Yonhap news agency, the crash was reported in the South Jeolla province when the Jeju Air flight 2216 was returning from Thailand.

Two people, a passenger and a flight attendant, have been found alive so far, local media reported.

A local fire department official told news agency AFP, "We have so far confirmed 29 deaths from the crash...but the tally could rise due to the critically injured".

Acting President Choi Sang-mok has designated Muan as a special disaster zone, after a Jeju Air plane carrying 181 people, including 6 crew, split in two in a fire post landing at the Muan International Airport. 179 people are feared dead, reported the Hindustan Times.
