YCMH Dean in the soup in Dr Puja Khedkar case

Pimpri: The Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) had issued the disability certificate to controversial former IAS probationary officer Dr Puja Khedkar about 7-pc permanent disability in her left knee.

However, the State Commissionerate for Persons with Disabilities raised doubts about it and directed a probe into the issue.

This is likely to increase problems of YCMH Dean Dr Rajendra Wable. The commissionerate has written a letter directly to the Principal Secretary of Medical Education Department to independently inquire into Dr Wable’s role.

The commissionerate has furnished documents and raised several queries about the report filed by the YCMH. In this context, the commissionerate has rejected the report prepared by Dr Wable.

State Disability Commissioner Pravin Puri has questioned how Dr Wable, who issued the disability certificate, himself investigated it and readied the report. He has also raised doubts about the MRI report, which was used to issue the disability certificate. Hence, Puri rejected Dr Wable’s report.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has extended the interim bail granted to Puja Khedkar till September 5.

During a hearing in the case on Wednesday (August 28), Khedkar claimed that the UPSC did not have the authority to act against her. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has it. She also rejected the allegations levelled against her by the UPSC and the Delhi Police in her reply to the court.

Khedkar denied the allegation that she changed her name or surname or made any other changes to it during 2012-2022, when she took the Civil Services Examination.
