Pune: The minor son of builder Vishal Agarwal involved in the hit-and-run case in Kalyani Nagar has presented the 300-word essay before the court as per the directions of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
While freeing the child in conflict with law (CCL) on bail, the Bombay High Court also upheld the conditions laid by the JJB when the latter granted bail to him. The JJB decision invited flak from citizens. Among the condition was writing an essay on the accident. It was criticised because citizens thought it to be a minor punishment for such a major crime, where the CCL drove his father’s Porsche car recklessly under the influence of alcohol and hit two IT engineers, who died in it.
It is now learnt that the JJB’s conditions are being followed by the CCL. He has written a 300-word essay. The process of following other conditions such as working with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for studying traffic rules and counselling is underway.
The accident took place on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar. The minor was granted bail by the JJB within 15 hours. The police invited heavy criticism later. They filed an application in the Sessions Court to treat the minor as an adult considering the nature of offence. The Sessions Court told the police to approach the JJB, which sent the minor to the observation home for 15 days.
Changing of blood samples
It was revealed during the investigation that the blood samples of the minor taken after the accident were changed in the Sassoon Hospital during the test. This was done with the intention so that the blood report should be negative. The minor’s mother gave her blood as his for testing, which was done with the connivance of the doctors in the Sassoon Hospital. The blood samples of the minor were thrown into the dustbin to destroy evidence.
Vishal Agrawal paid bribes
It was found during the investigation that accused Ashfaq Makandar gave Atul Ghatkamble, the peon from the Sassoon Hospital, Rs 3 lakh to change the blood samples of the minor. Ghatkamble gave Rs 2.5 lakh to Dr Shrihari Halnor and kept Rs 50,000 for himself. Vishal Agarwal handed over Rs 3 lakh to Makandar at a hotel in Kalyani Nagar.
