VOTERS To Get Special Attention At Polling Stations In Punjab
Pune: UNLIKE in other parts of the country where voters are likely to sweat it out at polling stations, there is going to be no such problem for voters at polling stations in Punjab.
Punjab will go to polls on June 1. In 2019 elections, it had registered around 65 per cent voting.
The State Election Commission of Punjab said in view of the rising temperature in the state, each polling station will be equipped with water coolers, fans and proper seating arrangement. Sheds are also erected so that voters can take a breather.
The action by the Election Commission has been taken in view of the complaints that it has been getting constantly. It has so far received a staggering 1600 complaints from the voters.
Importantly, the voters in the polling day will be provided ''chabeel'' or sweetened water, said poll officials.
Also, the officials said voters will be provided chairs if there are more than 10 in the queue at one given time.
Officials said they are also planning to set up separate rooms for children. There will be separate lines for senior citizens and pregnant women. The disabled will be provided wheel chairs. Arrangement for medical kits are also being made.
