Pune: Satyajeet Tambe, MLC, has suggested a new campaign, to increase voter turnoutm
"In Maharashtra, there was a very low turnout in the two phases of this year's Lok Sabha elections.
Voter turnout is low in every election. For a state like Maharashtra, it is a matter of grave concern. Every political party should take this seriously and do something about it," Mr Tambe said.
"A high voter turnout in a democracy is a sign of a good democracy. In order to ensure that, I have launched the campaign 'Pehla Mat, Chuko Mat' has been undertaken to increase the voting percentage and to guide the new voters. They are often confused looking at the current political situation and often feel demotivated to vote. But it is our responsibility as a citizen to voice dissent or support for the better future of the nation. The campaign is getting tremendous response and has already received thousands of missed calls. I am trying to guide each of them. This campaign is getting good response from new voters in Pune and Mumbai. I am hopeful that it will help increase voter turnout among the youth and first-time voters in Maharashtra," he said.
