Pune: – Symbiosis International University a Health Promoting University organized Symbithon 2024, a unique event commemorating 54 years with 54 kms run/walk challenge.

This virtual mega event took place from the 29th of September (The World Heart Day) to the 10th of October 2024 (The World Mental Health Day). The event attracted nearly 10,000 participants, including management, faculty, staff, students, distinguished alumni and health enthusiasts from around the globe, all striving to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Provost, Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences (FoMHS), Symbiosis International University, said, “This event embodies our commitment to promoting health and wellness within our community while harnessing the power of technology to bring people together, regardless of distance.”

The Department of Sports, Recreation and Wellness launched Symbithon as an app-based run/walk initiative during the pandemic, promoting physical fitness and mental well-being in a challenging time. This year, Symbithon aimed to create a personal run/walk experience that participants could complete at their own pace and location, with results conveniently recorded through the ACTHIVE mobile app, stated a press release.
