Pune, September 25, 2024: In a shocking incident, 85-year-old woman was raped by a 23-year-old individual in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The Hinjawadi police arrested the accused.

According to the police information, the victim woman was strolling in front of the passage of her residential flat on Monday evening while everyone in her house was busy talking with guests. At that time, the 23-year-old individual grabbed her face from behind, dragged her down the stairs, and brutally raped her.

This incident took place on Monday evening in the residential society in Mahalunge.

When the woman's daughter started searching for her mother after a long time she did not come home, she found her mother lying down the stairs with multiple injuries to her face. This harrowing incident came to light after the victim told the entire incident to her daughter.

Immediately, the 57-year-old daughter of the woman registered a police complaint at Hinjawadi police station in this regard. Accordingly, the police examined CCTV footage of the building and arrested the accused, identified as Om Jaychandra Puri (age 23, a resident of Sakhare Vasti, and an original native of Dharashiv). Police informed that the accused is an electrician by profession.

The police further said that the accused had come to the society four days ago for electric work repair. On Monday, when he again came to the society for some work, he did this heinous act.

Meanwhile, the accused had been presented to the court, and the court has sentenced him to five days of police custody. The Hinjawadi police are conducting further investigation into the incident.
