Pune: In a shocking incident of crime, Maya Ashok Ankola, mother of former India-cricketer and actor Salil Ankola, was found dead with her throat slit at their residence in Pune city on Friday.

Mrs Maya Ankola was 77 years old and stated to be active. The death came to light at the cricketer’s Prabhat Road residence in upscale Deccan locality of the city.

Their housemaid alerted the local police who immediately rushed to the spot.The police took her to a nearby hospital but she was declared dead on admission.The police summoned the eam of forensic experts to collect evidence and have started collecting clues to the crime.

Police did not confirm whether it was a murder or suicide. Police said there are no signs of forced entry to their home. The neighbours also apparently hear sounds from the house.
