Pune, September 9, 2024: A private passenger bus en route to Pune from Sangola Taluka, Solapur district, met with a serious accident today, near the Indapur bypass on the Pune-Solapur National Highway. The accident occurred when two of the bus's tyres burst, leading to a collision with a truck transporting iron.
According to initial reports, the tyre burst caused the bus to lose control and crash into the iron-laden truck. The force of the impact was so severe that the bus plunged about 25 to 30 feet down an embankment. Though the exact number of passengers aboard is yet to be confirmed, it is estimated that 10 to 11 people sustained injuries in the accident.
Indapur police, along with a team from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), arrived at the scene promptly and transported the injured to a nearby government hospital. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported so far, but the bus was heavily damaged.
Efforts are currently underway to remove the truck involved in the crash and to restore the flow of traffic on the highway. Indapur police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident.
