Pune, September 15, 2024: A shocking incident has come to light involving the director of a police academy in Pune. In a startling incident, molestation of a 16-year-old girl by the director of the police academy has taken place in Pune's Rajguru Nagar.

In this regard, a complaint has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections on the complaint of the victim by the Khed Police, and the accused has been remanded to police custody for two days.

The accused has been identified. He is  37 and the founder of a Career Academy. As per the police complaint, this incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the minor victim was summoned to his office under the pretext of receiving a call from her mother.

However, once the girl went inside the office, the director allegedly locked the door and attempted to molest her. The victim managed to escape with the help of a trainee boy who fortunately came to the office for his work, avoiding future tragedy.

Following the victim's complaint, the Khed Police registered a case against Gavhane under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections. He was subsequently arrested and remanded to police custody for two days.

The accused runs a pre-training police academy at the Taluka Sports Complex in the city. Approximately 100 students are currently enrolled in the academy. On this, Snehal Gurav, police sub-inspector of Khed police station, said that the possibility of such an act cannot be ruled out with some other girls like the victim girl, so a thorough investigation is required against the accused in this case.
