Pune, September 29, 2024: Considering the environmental concerns and the need for ecological conservation, the government has decided to develop a biodiversity park in Talawade, which has been affected by the Red Zone. The commissioner of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Shekhar Singh, has given his nod in this regard to give the contract of this work to Bharat Vikas Group India Private Limited Company, which is primarily involved in the sanitation sector.
According to preliminary information, this biodiversity park in Talawade will be constructed on a 60-acre plot with an estimated cost of Rs 76 crore.
Considering the red zone area of Talawade, there were difficulties in providing development works and infrastructural facilities. Therefore, the administration decided to create a biodiversity park in 60 acres of area within Talawade. For this, the Municipal Corporation conducted a tender process. However, only four contractors participated in this tender.
As a result, the municipal corporation has initiated a retendering process. In this renewed bidding, only Bharat Vikas Group India Private Limited Company submitted a proposal, offering a rate that is 0.10 percent lower than the initially proposed amount. Commissioner Singh has consequently approved their bid of Rs 75 crore, 93 lakh, and 88 thousand.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will involve the cultivation of various plants, including rare medicinal plants, native trees, and fruit and flowering trees. Additionally, habitats for animals and birds will be created, along with tracks, food stalls, and entertainment facilities for visitors.
