Pune: A private passenger bus travelling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway caught fire near the Vadgaon area, sparking a dramatic scene that unfolded on Saturday morning. Fortunately, all 36 passengers on board were evacuated safely, averting any casualties.
The incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, depicted the bus engulfed in flames with thick smoke billowing out. Despite efforts by the fire brigade personnel, the fire raged uncontrollably, resulting in the complete destruction of the bus.
Reports indicate that the bus, travelling from Mumbai to Pune, encountered the fiery ordeal upon reaching a village in Maval around 7:30 .m. Sources suggest that the fire originated from a burst tyre, leading to a subsequent short circuit. However, swift action by the bus driver ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers before the fire escalated.
Responding to the emergency, a patrol team from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), along with fire department officials and Vadgaon Maval traffic police, worked diligently to bring the raging inferno under control. Currently, all the passengers are safe, and no casualties are reported.
