Pune:One week long faculty development program (FDP) on 'Large Language Modelling: The Next Frontier of AI' was inaugurated today at Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering,Pune. Dr Bhushan Garware, Cloud Migration Consultant AI,Google was chief guest for inauguration ceremony while Vidula Sohoni(Principal, BV(DU)COE), Dr. Sunita Jadhav(Vice Principal, BV(DU)COE), Dr Sachin Chavan(Vice Principal, BV(DU)COE), Dr. Suhas Patil(Dean, Engineering and Technology, BV(DU)COE), Dr. Sandeep Vanjale(Head of IT Department), Dr. Priyanka Paygude( co-ordinator, FDP), Dr Milind Gayakwad(coordinator, FDP) were present.FDP constitutes of 10 sessions of expert speakers from industry also comprising of hands on training, shall be conducted in hybrid mode, in combination of online and offline sessions.
Dr Bhushan Garware said,'inventions in Artificial Intelligence have become a part of day to day lifestyle. He exemplified it saying that current Nobel prize in Physics and Chemistry are given to researchers who have significantly contributed to the discoveries in their fields using AI driven approaches. He however expresses that aligning with the pace of growth in AI is challenging. Addressing the popular concern of job scenario due to growth of AI, he said that kinds of jobs will change but not reduce. He said that only applications of algorithms won’t be sufficient but the role of academia to control and check the destructive power of AI shall also be of critical importance to develop responsible AI'.
Dr. Vidula Sohoni, Principal, BV(DU)COE, informed the gathering about the rankings, awards and achievements of the institute. She also said, BV(DU)COE organizes such FDPs like these with a focus to increase the industry institute interaction, enhance the research attributes and percolate the latest trends to students through the faculty. She also expressed her gratitude to the management of BV(DU) for sponsoring and funding the entire FDP.
Dr Sandeep Vanjale, presented a brief profile of the IT department to the participants. Dr. Priyanka Paygude informed the audience that the FDP consists of 10 sessions of expert speakers from industry also consisting of hands on training. She also informed that the FDP shall be conducted in hybrid mode, in combination of online and offline sessions. Dr Milind Gayakwad proposed the vote of thanks, stated a press release.
