Pune: In the Sassoon Hospital blood tampering case, Vishal Agarwal, Shivani Agarwal, and Ashfaq Makandar were sentenced to police custody until June 14. In order to investigate deeply into the case, the police have demanded an extension of their custody. While hearing the plea today, the court sentenced them to police custody until June 14.
Vishal Agarwal and Shivani Agarwal are accused of changing blood samples of their minor son after he was detained by the Yerawada police. They are charged with giving a bribe to Sassoon Hospital doctors to change the blood reports of their son. For this, Ashfaq Makandar paid 4 lakh rupees to the watchman of Sassoon Hospital Ghatkamble on behalf of the Agarwal family. Two days ago, police captured CCTV footage in which Makandar was seen giving money to Ghatkamble.
Notably, Shiwani Agarwal also confessed that the blood that was sent to a medical checkup was her own instead of that of the minor accused. Therefore, to check where the original blood samples of the minor accused were and to check what the accused did to his blood samples, the police demanded an extension in their police custody today in court.
Meanwhile, in the proceeding, Shivani Agarwal demanded a copy of the MCR (motor collision report); however, the court refused her request.
The third accused, Ashfaq Makandar, was present at Yerawada jail after the accident. However, after that, he was on the run, escaping police arrest. After a technical analysis, Pune crime branch police detained him and his one accomplice from Mumbai. Therefore, the police also wanted to investigate on whose instructions Makandar was doing all these things.
